7-Zip 32-bit is free and open source software used as file archiver for data compression, encryption and extracting compressed files. Apart from extracting compressed files, it combines a various files together into one or series of archive files for transferring them easily. Due to presence of LZMA and LZMA2 compression, it provides higher compression of files. The tool provides 2-10% compression for GZIP and ZIP formats, and supports various file formats including GZIP, ZIP, RAR (Roshal Archive), ISO, TAR, BZIP2, CAB, LZH, DEB NSISARJ and more.
7-Zip 32-bit has user-friendly interface, its main window provides information about the selected files such as its name, size, attribute, modification date and so on. It can be used to create self-extracting archives which are included into Windows context menu. Moreover, it has combination of filters, which have encryption filters, pre-processors and compression algorithms, are used for security or size reduction. Additionally, files are stored as Unicode and it performs encryption with AES algorithm.
7-Zip 32-bit uses 256-bit AES cipher for encryption of files and directory. When the directory is being encrypted, a password is required to see file names in archives. Furthermore, it enables to take backup on secondary storage devices such as CDs and DVDs by ‘Volumes of dynamically variable sizes’. This tool has has command-line interface as well, and user can configure multiple-core CPU threading settings and enables to unpack archives which have corrupted file names.
